Congratulations to David Mills and Alison Cooke, who both played for England in their respective age groups at The Four Nations Seniors' Tennis Championships 2015 at Bolton over the weekend of 2-4 May. The Four Nations is played every two years and teams of both male and female senior players from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales in age categories over 35s, over 45s and over 50s took to the courts with a round-robin format which saw each team play three matches with each match consisting of two singles and one doucble rubber.
David captained his over 45 side and won four out of five matches to help his team beat Wales, Ireland and Scotland to win their event overall.
Alison Cooke helped the 50s ladies team come a formidable 2nd to Scotland where Alison played 2 of the doubles matches. "I really enjoyed the ‘Davis Cup’ type atmosphere all weekend. Our Womens 50s doubles match England v Ireland was thrilling and both teams’ supporters were hanging over the spectators gallery cheering us on. The spirit of the event was also remarkable – players were gracious in both victory and defeat! An event I will never forget!"
England emerged as the overall winners after landing three of the six competitions.
