On Sunday 24th March. 32 of our best 9 & Under and 10 & Under players in Kent all competed for the honour of being the County Leaderboard Champion in their age group.
All of the boys and girls had achieved a lot just to reach the finals and the excellent standard of play on the day reflected this.
Both of the finals of the 9U Orange events were very close .Vaughan Watson (The Parklangley Club) defeated Ciaran Brewer (Appeti Tennis Centre - Canterbury) 7-2 7-4 to win the boys and Katie Swindell (The Parklangley Club) overcame the valiant efforts of Sofia Johnson (Bromley Tennis Centre) 7-2 7-2 in another tough fought contest.
The Boys 10U Green was equally competitive, with Archie Turner (Bromley Tennis Centre) beating Charlie Stembridge (Canterbury Tennis Academy), in two sets, 5-3 4-1. The girls saw,Amy Fotheringham (Bromley Tennis Centre) play an excellent match against Savannah Harris (Canterbury Tennis Academy). Despite Savnnah’s best efforts Amy won in two straight sets 4-0 4-0.
All of the players had competed well over the winter season and had earned the right to compete in the finals and should be really proud of their achievement. It was a very entertaining day and thanks go to the players, all of their parents and supporters and to the staff of Bromley Tennis Centre for their help in making the event a terrific success.
