Hythe LTC arrived at Bromley Tennis Centre (BTC) on Saturday 14th May to play a 12&Under Division 1B match. The Hythe team were Alex Stroud, Richard Moore, Tom Alldritt and Will Haugh and the BTC team were Kristofer Johnson, Anthony Ching, Bunmi Davies and Brett Morton. We were excited to be there as we knew Bromley has fantastic indoor courts and as the weather was looking as if it was going to rain we hoped to be inside, which we were!
The first round of matches saw Kristofer (BTC) beat Alex (Hythe) while on the next court the match between Anthony (BTC) and Richard (Hythe) went on for nearly 3 hours. It was a nail biting affair, with some fantastic tennis being played; eventually Richard (Hythe) won to draw the tie at 1-1. Everything to play for going into the 3rd and 4th singles matches where there was another close match between Bunmi (BTC) and Tom (Hythe). Bunmi (BTC) took the match and took BTC to a 2-1 lead. Brett’s (BTC) win made it 3-1 going into the doubles where both matches were taken to a championship tiebreak. BTC emerged victorious in both matches in the tiebreaks; there were some superb rallies and skills on show!
Overall Bromley TC won 5-1 and they now head up the 12&Under Division 1B table! We appreciated a very fine tea at the end, we were absolutely exhausted but had all enjoyed our tennis matches that day.
