April has seen James Davis gain his first world ranking points.
His performance at Sutton Easter Grade 2 Tournament saw him gain a wildcard into the Aegon Junior International at Nottingham. This was James’ s first international event. In the first round he met Vlad Onita from Romania. Although James played well Vlad used his greater experience to just edge ahead and take the match 4-6, 4-6.
In the doubles James partnered Robert Leck and together they reached the quarterfinals by beating Angus Bradshaw and Sean Evans 6-4, 6-4, this saw him successfully gain his first junior world ranking points.
James is the second Appeti player to have achieved a world ranking. Ffion Newberry also gained world ranking points as a junior player and now coaches with Appeti Tennis at our Canterbury centre.
