Road to Wimbledon County Final 2013

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

It was been another great year for Road to Wimbledon in Cambridgeshire with a record number of entries for both the Boys and Girls events. The internal club events ran really well despite the poor weather at the start of the summer season.

This meant that we had a full 16 draw for the boys and an 8 draw for the girls at the county final. These boys and girls represented both schools or clubs and all recieved a prize for making it through to the County Final.

The County Final was held at Virgin Active Thorpewood on the 13th and 14th July. The weather was excellent and the event went really well with some great tennis from some of the best tennis players in the County and Region attending.

In the girls draw Aisha Brown only lost 1 game in winning the title and securing her place in the National Finals. The boys draw had some really high rated players with the likes of Maki Zivotic 5.2, Charlie James 5.2 and Harry Wendelken 6.1 all looking for a place in the National Finals. Maki won the draw having only lost 5 games in 4 matches. Maki will be looking to have an impact at the National Finals having played so well in this County event.
