Cambridgeshire’s 14 and under boys team of Josh Wilson, Ben Clark, Tom Hands, and Dom Lea played very well to beat Northamptonshire 4 matches to 0; then Staffordshire 4 matches to 0 and finally in the deciding match against Norfolk they came out on top winning 3 matches to 1. Josh Wilson at number one played very well conceding only 7 games all day. Ben Clark at number 2 only lost 3 games.
The girls team of Eilish Mackie, Zoe Douglas, Pippa Scotcher and Lizzie Pam also topped their group but were made to work somewhat harder! Eilish Mackie at number one had a very good day and played some outstanding tennis with good wins against Staffordshire’s Francesca Wilkes a 6.2 by 5/3, 4/1 and then a good win against Norfolk’s Klara Moolman 4/2, 4/2. Lizzie Pam at number four won all her matches too. Cambridgeshire beat Northamptonshire 4 matches to 0. They then beat Staffordshire 3 matches to 1 and then drew with Norfolk 2 matches each with Eilish and Lizzie the victors in that match.
Overall Cambridgeshire girls were first, Staffordshire second, Norfolk third and Northamptonshire fourth.
Overall – captain Sue Rich said ‘all the 14 and under players competed very well and with great team spirit had an excellent day to keep Cambridgeshire at the top of their group with two age groups still to play’
