LIVING SPORT’s Club Development Objective – to ensure and support clubs to become more visible and accessible

LIVING SPORT wishes to create and embed a two part offer for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough based sports clubs within our Club Development work for 2013-14. The first element will be around what we will offer to all clubs, despite their size, location, sport and plans. The focus of this element of the offer is on ‘training & education’ as well as our ‘additional provision offer’ through LIVING SPORT’s programmes such as Sportivate and Club Satellites.

Below you will find additional details behind this element of LIVING SPORT’s Club Development offer.

LIVING SPORT’s Offer to all Cambridgeshire & Peterborough based Sports Clubs

  1. 1.     Training & Education

LIVING SPORT to deliver an easily accessible and improved open Coach, Official and Administration (COA) programme for ALL local clubs

Including:

  • Open Safeguarding & Protecting Children Workshops across all of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough from April 2013 to March 2014
  • Open First Aid Courses across all of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough from April 2013 – March 2013
  • Deliver termly business focused education & practical learning for clubs
  • Deliver termly marketing focused education & practical learning for clubs
  1. 2.       Additional Provision Offer

The following programmes will be focused and prioritised on club engagement to achieve success, impact, innovation and quality for sports clubs.

  • Sportivate: delivery fund to aid the creation of new provision for the semi sporty 14-25 year olds.
  • Satellite Clubs: extensions of community sports clubs which can offer a different sporting experience for young people. Different because they bring sport out to young people in very local venues.
  • Coaching Bursary Fund:  financial support to develop coaches linked to and/or working with LIVING SPORT

The second element to the Club Development offer is a closed offer to a targeted number of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough based Sports Clubs for this period (April 2013 – March 2014). Otherwise known as our FOCUSED CLUB GROW & DEVELOPMENT OFFER. The feature of this element of work is to provide selected clubs a LIVING SPORT mentor to aid improvement and growth.

The LIVING SPORT Mentor will…..

  1. Support the club in fulfilling their aspirations and plans
  2. Motivate the club to complete development tasks and objectives that benefit their club
  3. Act as a sounding board – challenging assumptions and ideas in a constructive manner & stimulate areas of potential good practice
  4. Ensure uptake of other LIVING SPORT responsibilities and programmes – from additional provision programmes, coaching and disability for example to aid development where appropriate.

This aspect of work is certainly not there to duplicate in a negative way or replace the work NGBs complete to improve their community sports club. LIVING SPORT’s aim is to complement the club development work you are currently facilitating. Our focus is on improving clubs in our county so that that we have the best possible provision for the community to take advantage of within a club setting.
