We are delighted that the Holbrook schools and club have been awarded the cup this year. Congratulations to Richard Daynes, Head coach, Mrs Andrews, Mrs Rose and parents who work voluntarily to make this partnership work so effectively for our pupils.

The school also arranged friendly Mini Red Matchplays. On May 14th Holbrook played Ipswich High School winning 20-15. On July 16th Holbrook played Stutton winning 21-20 organised by Mrs. Andrews. On July 4th, 3 Adults and nine children spent a day at Wimbledon.

SCHOOL/ CLUB LINK:

The school is very grateful for the continuing link with Holbrook Tennis Club, without which none of the above would have been possible. Thank you to  Richard Daynes and his team of coaches at Holbrook Tennis Club for their continuing support and encouragement to the children.

Each playtime the court is always very busy with all ages, boys and girls enjoying playing ‘tennis’ - for most of the school year the 'Tennis Team’ Olly Martin, Toby Woollard, Luke Martin & Bradley Vine have made notices displaying the rules for the use and care of the tennis equipment, and make sure at the end of each break everything is left tidy. They have had to speak to the school in Assembly to remind the children of the importance of taking care of equipment. During a recent Ofsted Inspection one of the inspectors was very impressed by the 'Tennis Team'.

At special lunches,  when parents, grandparents and friends are invited in, many have joined with the children in having a go  – so it really is TENNIS FOR ALL at Holbrook Primary School.

CELEBRATION TENNIS AWARDS ASSEMBLY

Sally Pearson (Tennis East Development Manager), Sheelagh Watts (Suffolk L.T.A.Secretary) Richard Daynes, Parents and grandparents attended. As the classes came into assembly 2 children were demonstrating with foam balls on a mini court made up of 4 P.E. mats.  This caused great amusement when the Deputy Head was hit on the head by a ball ‘accidentally’. Richard Daynes presented all the children who had represented the school in teams with medals and certificates. The children who played in the School Games Competition received a Babolat Racket and three mini red balls. Sally Pearson kindly brought along 4 more rackets and balls; these were given to two Year1 boys and one Year F boy and girl. Sheelagh Watts then presented a signed Rafa Nadal Shirt, which she had had framed, which was won for the school by Mrs Hookway.  Accompanying the presentations was a slideshow of the teams and tennis activities.

This assembly was truly a celebration of tennis at Holbrook Primary School.
