On Sunday 26th August Exning Tennis Club celebrated the arrival of the Paralympic Flame as part of its tour of Suffolk.
Exning Tennis Club had been chosen as one of the Suffolk clubs to host the Paralympic Flame as it toured the Eastern region. This honour is in recognition of the work the club has undertaken promoting and supporting wheelchair tennis in the region over the past 15 years.
John Wilson & David Irani have been the main driving force of introducing wheelchair tennis into the club and attracting new players into the game. David runs weekly sessions on a Monday afternoon from 1pm at Exning Tennis Club. In the winter months they head indoors and play at David Lloyd Cambridge. There are currently 8 wheelchair members, but they are always looking for new members. Exning tennis Club is also celebrating the 60th anniversary of the club this year. The club is so warm & welcoming, if you fancy a game of tennis head down to the club and the members will welcome you with open arms.
