Ladies Winter League

The ladies division 1 decider was played under blue skies, with West Bridgford beating Magdala to retain their title, in comfortable fashion. West Bridgford’s all round strength proved too much for a strong Magdala team. Kathryn Hales and Margaret Fincham just edged out the younger members of their team to be the top couple with 26 games.

David Lloyd Aspley narrowly beat rivals David Lloyd West Bridgford, to move into second place in division 2. The dominant performance of Gemma Praditngan and Nancy Manners, with 27 games sealed the match for Aspley despite Rachel Benning and Carol Drummond winning 24 games for the opposition.

Collingham moved to the top of division 3 following a home win against second placed Magdala ‘A’, and secured promotion with one game remaining. The county veteran pairing of Beryl Jones and Jill Beardsall were the top couple with 24 games, but Magdala’s mother and daughter pairing of Margot and Eve Kersh ran them very close with 23 games. Caunton beat Newark to move into third place, and now play Magdala ‘A’ in the last match of the season to decide the second promotion place.

Farnsfield ‘A’ moved out of the relegation area in division 5B, with a home win against East Bridgford ‘A’. The top couple were Farnsfield’s first pairing of Lesley Healy and Shelagh Mitchell with 31 games. Magdala secured the top spot and promotion following an away win against Sutton in Ashfield ‘A’.
