The Mini Tennis League Finals took place at the Nottingham Tennis Centre on 24th March, where the North and South League winners and runners up in Red, Orange and Green came to play against each other to determine the overall winners of the 2017-18 season.
The standard of play was very high and so many of the matches were so very close. One in particular was the Red Semi Final match Grantham v David Lloyd West Bridgford which finished at 8 games all, needing a count up of points with Grantham getting 137 to DLWB’s 136, so Grantham went through play in the finals by one single point!
Grantham played the Tennis Centre in the finals winning again on a tight margin of 9 games to 7. DLWB were placed 3rd by beating Caunton 13-3.
Grantham also reached the Orange finals but were overwhelmed by the strong West Bridgford team who won 7-2. DLWB were again placed 3rd by just beating Retford 5-4 in the play-offs.
West Bridgford again won through to become winners of the Green event, beating Grantham 5-4 with Lady Bay coming 3rd and Caunton 4th.
Congratulations to all the teams for reaching the finals day and well done to all the players for their terrific quality of play.
Medals were presented to all those taking part in these Finals and the winning teams were presented with glass trophies.
Many thanks to our sponsor of this worthwhile league, Cloudworks, and also to their CEO, Tony Brown, for coming along on the day.
