Well done to the Notts 16U County Team who played at Corby to bring Notts top of the 12 counties table.
The 16’s were the second age group to play in this season’s Corby 12 Counties Championships. Hereford and Worcs were our first opponents. Frances and Ellie both had comfortable wins, Claire lost the first set, then came back with a 4-2 win, but went down in the match tiebreak. Amber had a slow start and also lost. Pierre and Jack both played positive tennis, with easy wins, unfortunately were reversed in Taylor’s match, but Max had an easy win, giving us an overall 5-3 win.
The second round was against Cambs, Pierre had a tough first set loosing it 1-4, he then turned it round to win the second 4-2, and the match tiebreak 10-5. Jack and Taylor both lost in tough matches, Max again won 4-0, 4-0. Frances had a hard second match, with a few too many errors went down 2-4, 1-4. Ellie and Amber had easy wins, Claire had another close three setter, but this time she won the match tiebreak.
The final round was against Suffolk, it was a strong team, some great tennis was played in Pierre’s match, he lost in three sets. Jack and Taylor lost to stronger players, but Max came through with a 4-2, 4-1 win. In the girls round the Suffolk no.1 and 2 were strong players, Frances and Ellie both played some of their best tennis of the day, but both lost, Claire and Amber both played well gaining two wins.
Every set counts in this event, so in the count back Notts came top by one set to Suffolk, which is a great result.
There was great team spirit throughout the whole day, thanks as always goes to the parents for their support.
