Team: Phoenix Weir, Noah Johnson, Olivia Corfe and Ishy Han.
8 counties took part in a great mini orange tournament at Corby Tennis Club, playing 80 matches in total. The standard of tennis played was excellent.
Notts started against the reigning champs Hertfordshire and despite Phoenix’s great win against their number 1 Notts lost 3-1.
Next up was Hereford and Worcester. The team performed well and earned a 2-2 tie, coming out on top on points. Phoenix and Olivia with the wins this time.
Only Northamptonshire now stood between us and the semi finals. It was again a draw at 2 rubbers each, Ishy and Phoenix getting the wins. The team had fought hard and taken an extra set compared to Northampton. This meant we had won through to the semis where we faced a strong Cambridgeshire team.
Before this match we talked about how every point counted and the team really took that onto the court. We drew again at 2 rubbers each! But because Noah and Olivia both took a set in their losses, fighting very hard all the way, it meant, we came out on top by 6 sets to 4. By fighting hard for every point Notts had made it through to the final!!
Unfortunately we lost a great final 4 -0, to Hertfordshire. (The match was a lot closer than that score might suggest.)

The team played and fought hard. The players supported each other well and there was definitely a good team spirit. To come runners up in a tournament where such a high level of Tennis was being played was a great achievement.
Well done team Notts!!
