Notts were this year in a group along with Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
We started off against Northants. Numbers 1 and 2 start off each match with numbers 3 and 4 following. Costi and Puneet both fought hard but were beaten by stronger opposition. Jack went on with his usual old school style of serve and volley, slice and dice and made things awkward for his opponent, whilst Daniel had to endure one game that had at least 20 deuces but both lost out in tight matches. In the girls matches, there were some very dominant performances across all the matches with Amelia, Eva and Anna McBride winning comfortably. Anna Buckley had a tough match but toughed it out in the end. Boys 0-4, Girls 4-0.
Next was Bedfordshire. The girls were again looking imperious with only one single game dropped in all 4 matches. The boys had it a little tougher but some good performances from all of the boys gave us a convincing win. Boys 3-1, Girls 4-0.
The toughest match on paper was the final one against Buckinghamshire. This was true to form as the boys despite having some good moments were outplayed in each match. Anna McBride has a tough second set after a strong start but was able to get the win. Anna Buckley and Eva were never in danger and won easily. Amelia had a very tough match against Isabelle Marshall who it must be said, didn’t give much away. After exchanging 4-2 sets, it came down to MTB which Amelia just lost out on 10-6. Boys 0-4, Girls 3-1.
All of the players were professional and carried themselves off very well throughout the day. I would like to thank the players and also their parents for sacrificing their Sunday to take them to Corby.
