Ladies 27 July
Musters ladies moved to the top of division 2, following consecutive wins against David Lloyd
West Bridgford and Attenborough. Musters made the most of home advantage in a close fought
win against David Lloyd. Rachel Benning and Carol Drummond won 6 sets for the visitors, but the
overall consistency of the Musters team saw them home, with a creditable 4 sets from Linda Mee
and Mary Joyner. In a much more comfortable match against Attenborough, Jane Rudge and
Caroline Milns won 6 sets for the loss of only 6 games, with Lesley Cree and Jane Stevens also
winning 6 sets. Woodthorpe ‘A’ had their first win of the season when they beat third placed
Farnsfield. Ella Sas and Laura Wright were Woodthorpe’s top couple with 5.5 sets. Sutton in
Ashfield also had their first win of the season when they beat second placed Magdala ‘A’, to move away from the relegation area. Rebecca Wood and Joanne Derbyshire were in dominant form for Sutton, winning 6 sets for the loss of only 6 games.
David Lloyd Nottingham beat Southwell and overtook them at the top of division 3. Nancy
Manners and Lynsey Cover were the top couple with 6 sets for the loss of only 4 games. East
Bridgford move off the bottom with a home win against Burton Joyce, which was dominated by
Rosie Watkins and Sue Day with 6 sets. Burton Joyce were then strengthened with the arrival of
Ruth Rae for their next match, who partnered Heather Ankers to win 6 sets against third placed
Grantham, with Gill Lane and Lorraine Cockell contributing 5 sets.
In division 4B, Magdala ‘B’ moved off the bottom, when they beat fellow strugglers Caunton ‘A’ in
a close fought match. Alison Davidson and Jane Hall were the deciding influence with an
impressive 6 sets.
Lady Bay ‘B’ won their fourth consecutive match, when they beat Farnsfield ‘C’, to head division
6. East Bridgford ‘B’ also beat Farnsfield, who are now firmly rooted at the bottom. Sarah Parnell
and Lisa Hampson were Bridgford’s top couple with 6 sets.
