HSBC Road to Wimbledon Challenge – Notts County Final
In the first stage of the competition, the following Tennis Clubs in Notts ran the 14U competition open to players rated 7.1-10.2. 16 winners were invited to take part in the Notts Club Final weekend on the 15th/16th July representing David Lloyd West Bridgford and Aspley Lane , Lady Bay, Farnsfield, Caunton, West Bridgford, Woodthorpe, Nottingham TC, Keyworth and Welbeck.
Millie Wileman (Lady Bay) beat Alexandra Kepa (David Lloyd Aspley) to win the Girls’ Final, beautifully played by both girls who were a credit to their clubs.
The Boys’ Final was contested between Phoenix Weir (David Lloyd West Bridgford) and Ishy Han (David Lloyd Aspley) who won 2 tough tie-break matches to reach the final. Congratulations to Phoenix Weir who was the winner and had an immaculate tournament.
Both Millie and Phoenix will now compete at the National Finals, held at All England Lawn Tennis Club, where the 44 County Finals winners qualify to play singles & doubles at the famous Wimbledon grass courts.
This is very exciting – Good luck to Millie and Phoenix in the Final! Alexandra and Ishy have also earned an invitation to a coaching session with Tim Henman on the grass courts.
