I’m Louise Jones and I am thrilled to be the new Disability Co-Ordinator for the Notts LTA. I am passionate about disability sports and alongside my husband Martyn we own a non for profit community interest company specialising in disability tennis.
In 2015 we became Nottingham’s leading provider of disability tennis offering 6 sessions of disability tennis per week in leisure centers across the city and county of Nottingham. In addition to these sessions we work in multiple specialist schools and colleges across the county offering inclusive and impairment specific tennis to children and young adults. Our coaches are trained and delivering Deaf tennis, Visually impaired tennis, Wheelchair tennis and Learning disability tennis.
Over the past few years we have taken a lead role in organising come and try days for multiple events such as the British Wheelchair open. I currently work closely with The Tennis Foundation to create and promote opportunities for inclusive sessions and we work with many community groups to deliver taster sessions and offer opportunities to play.
In November 2014 we took on our own facility, The Activeace Arena, here we have 3 newly resurfaces outdoor tennis courts and hope to raise enough funds to install a tea room and fully inclusive children’s playground with disability access.
I am excited to work with the Notts LTA to promote and grow tennis participation and increase inclusive opportunities for all players in Nottinghamshire. I feel that my role as Disability Co-Ordinator will be an exciting challenge and will be a great opportunity to raise the profile of disability tennis in the community.
