Ladies League Tennis
Magdala ladies have finished as runners up in division 1, following a win against Ilkeston and a draw against Mansfield. Gina Ofield and Beth Mallalue were Magdala’s dominant couple in their hard fought draw at Mansfield with 5.5 sets. Ilkeston then beat Mansfield to ensure their top flight status next season thanks to the maximum sets from County Captain Sarah Wright and Rachel Stubbs. Lady Bay and West Bridgford ‘A’ will be relegated.
Musters completed their season in division 2 with a convincing win against Magdala ‘A’, to remain unbeaten to win the division and promotion to division 1. Caroline Milns and Mary Joyner were the top couple with 5 sets. Woodthorpe ‘A’ completed their fixtures with an away win against Sutton in Ashfield to move into third place behind David Lloyd West Bridgford.
Burton Joyce have ensured promotion from division 3, with a convincing home win against Musters, but because David Lloyd Nottingham lost a very close tussle with East Bridgford, they could still be overtaken by Grantham, who have one match remaining, for the other promotion spot.
In division 5B, Newark ‘A’ had a good win against Woodthorpe ‘C’ to move into second place behind Farnsfield ‘A’. Musters ‘C’ move up to third place following a win against Caunton ‘C’, and could still gain promotion if they win their last match against Grantham ‘A’ and Newark ‘A’ lose to Caunton ‘C’.
