Captain's Report:-
A really tough week for the Nottingham Men’s team fielding a depleted, very young team. The team was missing 2 of their regular players, Ben Dunbar, Rob Chambers. With this in mind there was stand out pair of Scott Whitbread and Dave Barton who managed an impressive 13/14 wins. This was also backed up with a strong performance from some of the team’s younger players including Josh Poullet, Callum Chivers, and Phil Peters. But not forgetting the senior members of the team who fought hard for every point and made their opponents work to the bitter end. (Well done James). A well done goes out to Dan Macshane who fought through the week with a bad back problem which hit him on day 1.
We finished a very impressive 3rd from the group. The commitment shown by the guys was incredible. Not only for giving up their time for the week, but for their comradely, behavior and willingness to go the extra mile for the county. The county should be proud of how the players conducted themselves.
As a captain I look forward to next year and developing the younger guys into even more fierce competitors. I believe that if we can strengthen the depth of our 3rd pair we have a great opportunity to progress to division 3.
