Men’s Summer League
Musters have now become favourites to win the men’s division 1 title following a comfortable home win against Nottingham Castle, which moves them to the top, ahead of Lady Bay on sets won, with one match to play for both teams. Andy Vernon and Callum Chivers were the dominant couple, winning 6 sets for the loss of only 7 games. Mapperley Park are still in with an outside chance of winning the league if they win their two remaining matches and the other two lose.
Farnsfield ‘A’ battled to a good away win in division 3, against Woodthorpe ‘A’, but it was not quite enough to prevent Woodthorpe from gaining the second promotion place behind Ravenshead, on sets won. The top couple of Gary Bearman and Matt Wallace, with 4.5 sets came from the losing team. Mansfield also had a good away win against West Bridgford ‘B’, and finish in third place and ensures relegation for West Bridgford and Wollaton.
Musters ‘B’ have given themselves a fighting chance of promotion from division 4B, following an away win against Magdala ‘B’ and a draw against second placed Mapperley Park ‘A’. East Bridgford are still firm favourites as they remain unbeaten, but Retford could still spoil the party, if they win their remaining two matches.
David Lloyd Nottingham completed their fixtures in division 5A, with an away win against Woodthorpe ‘C’. Steve Tooley and Grant Shelton were the top couple with 6 sets, and were backed up by Gavin Shek and Andy Wright with 5 sets. Woodthorpe then went on to beat Keyworth ‘A’, to move into second place behind run away leaders Grantham ‘A’. Nigel Parlor and Dan Edwards were the top couple with 6 sets.
David Lloyd West Bridgford continued their winning run at the top of division 2, with a comfortable away win at Keyworth, and look assured of promotion. Todd Johnson and Rob Gough were the top couple, winning 6 sets for the loss of only 7 games.
Southwell move into third place in division 5B, with a good home win against Woodthorpe ‘D’. Alan Colman and Alan Bowmer were the top couple winning 5.5 sets.
Men’s Short Format League
The Park Tennis Club are leading the way in division 1, and remain unbeaten, following a 9 – 3 win against Keyworth, who are still to register a win. Carlton Blake and Nigel Boddy were the top couple, winning the maximum 4 sets, for the loss of only 6 games. Attenborough move into second place following a 7 – 5 away win at Sutton Bonington, where Ashley Mace and Rod Roulston took the maximum sets. West Bridgford and Nottingham Castle battled out a draw, leaving them third and fourth respectively
