The first round was against Northamptonshire, The teams were playing with green balls, reduced sets, with a sudden death deuce. Noah lost in straight sets with a score that did not reflect the standard of play throughout the match. Phoenix lost the first set 0-4, then won the second 4-2, but went down in the tie-break 6-10.   Ishy played in a very business way playing a tight first set winning 4-0, he went on to win the second in the same manner 4-1. Luca had a tough match he also lost in a well played match in straight sets. This gave the boys a 1-3 result.

Olivia played a good first set winning 4-0, but went on to play a tight set tiebreak which she won 7-1, Eva also played a great first set to win 4-0, the second slipped away 2-4 , but she came back to win the match tie-break 10-7. Amy had a tough match against a player rated above her, she played well, but went down in two sets, Charlotte had the same experience, she also lost in two sets, giving the girls a 2-2 result , overall 3-5 down.

The second round was against Bedfordshire, Noah played a great match against Finn Lester, he won the first set 4-1, lost the second in a set tie-break 2-7, then went down in a great match tie-break 6-10. Phoenix played well to win 4-1, 4-1, with Ishy also playing another tight match, to win 4-0, 4-0, Luca also played his best match winning 4-1, 4-0, so giving the boys a 3-1 win.

The Bedfordshire girls were strong, Olivia had a great match to win 5-3, 4-2, Eva played well but lost 1-4,2-4, Amy lost the first set 1-4, had really tight second set, going down 4-7 in the set tie-break. The same happened to Charlotte with the second set also a set tiebreak 7-9. This gave the girls a 1-3 result. The overall result being 4-4.

The last round was against Leicestershire, a strong team. Noah played well again, but his opponent, Thomas Giles,  always had one more shot and Noah lost in two sets.   Phoenix played a very good match against Samik Chandarana, winning 4-2, 4-1.    Ishy had his toughest match but still delivered a two set win. Luca had his best match of the day, he lost the first set 3-5 in a well fought set, also lost the second 2-4, a match score that did not reflect the standard of play. The boys overall score being 2-2.

The girls all had a tough time against this team, they were just that much stronger and more consistent, Leicestershire won all four matches in straight sets, giving a final score of 2-6.

The team never gave up, they all chased every ball, they were great in supporting each other, and my thanks go to the parents for their support throughout the day.
