Freya Christie won her eighth ITF Pro double title at the end of November.
Freya Christie & Jodie Burrage were unseeded in the doubles in Sharm El Sheikh and in the first round they drew the third seeds. Paulina Czarnik & Dan Ni Wang were staying with the Brits at first, but then Christie & Burrage broke and the Pole/Chinese pair were unable to get the break back.
The second set was much the same as the third seeds tried to mount a comeback, however the Brits were just too strong for the Czarnik & Wang. Christie & Burrage once again broke the serve of the third seeds and this was all that they needed to seal the match 6-4, 6-3
In the quarter-final the Brits drew another unseeded pairing Clemence Fayol & Deborah Kerfs. The French/Belgian pairing tried to stay with Christie & Burrage in the first set, but were broken. The second set was much easier for the Brits, dominating and breaking twice to seal the win 6-4, 6-2.
The semi-final saw Christie & Burrage face the second seeds Barbara Bonic & Jelena Stojanovic. Despite the ranking difference the Serb/Aussie pairing were no match for the Brits who soon had the match won in straight sets. Having continued where they left off in the quarter-final, Christie & Burrage won 6-2, 6-3
In the final the Brits were against Linnea Malmqvist & Sang Hee Park. The Swedish/Korean pair pushed Christie & Burrage close in the first set, with the Brits eventually breaking right at the end to take the set. The second set saw Malmqvist & Park mount a fight back and level up the match. The final would be decided with a match tiebreak. Christie & Burrage edged this to claim the title 7-5, 3-6, 13-11.
What a great season Freya is having!
