Nottinghamshire Seniors Tennis teams and players have had a very successful year. See below a summary of their final positions and successes as presented to a recent Nots LTA committee meeting. More detailed reports from the captains and photos have already been posted on this website.
Ladies
Over 35.- placed 3rd in Division 4B- Captain Maia Dunn.
Over 40-placed 2nd in Division 2B-Captain- Aldonna Greenwood. -promoted.
Over 50-placed 5th in Dividion2B-Captain Joanne Higham
Over 60-placed 3rd in Division 1B-Captain Ann Brown
Over 65-placed 5th in Division 1B- Captain Jill Shelvey
Over 70-placed 2nd in Division 2A-Captain Ann Pullan. -promoted.
Men
Over 35-placed 4th in Division4A-Captain Jason Revill
Over 50-placed 4th in Division 2B-Captain Tim Phillips.
Over 60-placed 4th in Division2B-Captain Jim Stubbs.
Over 65-placed 6th in Division 1A- Captain David Carter.
Over 70-placed 2nd in Division 2A-Captain Nick Shelvey.-promoted.
Over75- placed 4th in Division 1A-Captain-Kevin Oxley.
As you can see we run many teams involving a lot of time and organisation from these captains.
We would like to thank them all for their commitment.
International.
Unlike recent years our only player this year selected for Great Britain was Sally Beeley. She played in the World Senior O80 competition in Orlando, USA. Congratulations again to her. She then played in the World individual championships the following week, also in Orlando.
Tournaments
British Clay Court- Sally Beeley won the O80 singles.
West Bridgford Winter Indoor.- attracted another large entry from across the country.
Local successes- Ann Brown-O50 winner, Nick Lodge-O60 RU, Eddie Fox-O65 RU.
Clubs
The following clubs from Notts entered teams in the Seniors National Club Championships. - Burton Joyce, Grantham Nottingham Castle and West Bridgford.
This was good to see and hopefully the numbers will keep on increasing.
West Bridgford have reached the finals of the Super Senior Mixed and the Ladies O60 to be played in Dudley.
West Bridgford O60 ladies were invited to the European Club Championships in Majorca. They were runners-Up.
General
