Unfortunately Dominic West was not able to play due to a sickness bug he had for over a week. The first round was against Warwickshire, Marcus had a great match against Luke Hammond winning 4-2,4-2. Eban had a slow start after the Christmas break and lost 0-4,1-4 to Max Stewart. Pierre played a very good first set winning 4-2, but in the first game of the second set his opponent Joseph Ellis went over on his ankle and had to retire. Alex played Oliver Kitching again he had a slow start loosing 1-4,0-4.
Georgia played a very good match against Kate Malezonia winning 2-4, 4-1 (1-6), Georgia now has a big forehand, making a lot of wining shots on return of service. Jennifer played a very steady game winning 4-2,4-2. Ellie played for nearly two hours, eventually beating Tamara Majevadia 5-3,5-3. This was the first time Ellie had played since the County Closed, unfortunately she strained her wrist and was unable to play her other two matches. Amy had a tough first set against Miriam Tyler but had a good win 4-5,4-1 (10-6). This gave Notts a win of 6-2.
Our next round was against Yorkshire, Marcus had a easy win of 4-1,4-0, Eban played a much better match against Thomas Burton winning 4-0,5-3, Pierre also had an easy win 4-0,4-1,as did Alex winning 4-1,4-0. This gave us a good start to go 4-0 up.
The girls were not so lucky, Georgia had a convincing win 4-1,4-1 against Eve Brady, Jennifer lost 4-2,4-1, Ellie’s match was a w/o, but Amy managed to squeeze a win of 1-4,4-2 (8-10). This again gave us a win of 6-2.
The final round was against Leicestershire so many were playing opponents they knew. The boys all won convincingly, Georgia won 4-0,4-0, Jennifer had a w/o due to Olivia not feeling well, Ellie’s match was a w/o to Leics and Amy lost after a great three set match. Amy was the one player who with each match she played she gained confidence and played better tennis. We ended the day with another 6-2 win.
It was a long day, but everyone played well, all supporting each other, as did the parents.
