Ladies Summer League
After securing the Ladies Winter League title, West Bridgford made the best possible start in defence of their summer league title, with a whitewash of Lady Bay. Kathryn Hales and Eleanor Hawketts were dominant, winning 6 sets without conceding a game. Elaine Masters and Margaret Fincham also won 6 sets for the loss of only 2 games, with Lisa Knowles and Joanne Higham winning 6 sets for the loss of 4 games. Ilkeston had a good away win against newly promoted Magdala ‘A’, where Sarah Wright and Julie Griffiths were the top couple with 6 sets, and Sarah Usher and Julie Griffiths won 5.5 sets. Magdala had a comfortable win against their second team, where Danielle Fynney and Mandy Mellors along with Holly Mellors and Margot Kersh both took the maximum sets.
David Lloyd West Bridgford started their division 2 season with a close fought home win against Burton Joyce, where Sally Conlon and Kayo Utsumi were the top couple with 5 sets. David Lloyd then suffered a heavy loss at Woodthorpe, where Sue Pannell and Jenny Maddison were the top couple with 6 sets.
East Bridgford got off to a flying start in division 4A, with a comprehensive home win against Musters ‘B’, where Rosie Watkins and Vanessa Ruiterman won 6 sets, which was matched by Irene Cooper and Sandra Ross, but came down with a bump in their next home match, losing to Lady Bay ‘B’. Magdala ‘B’ won a very close away match against Grantham ‘A’, where Jane Hall and Christine Lockwood were the dominant couple, winning 6 sets for the loss of only 7 games. Elaine Hobson a Tracy Maplethorpe provided the most resistance with 4 sets
