East Bridgford Tennis Club held their Spring Open Day on Sat 25th April which was attended by over 120 and gave 70 adults and children the opportunity to take part in the coaching clinics run by GB players, Danny Sapsford and Alex Slabinski.
Both professionals were there representing the charity Bright Ideas For Tennis, set up to encourage more people to play and enjoy the sport.
The event closed with an entertaining exhibition match in which the club coach, John Beaumont, and the men’s captain, Dave Watkins, played a set with the professionals. They did a fantastic job at keeping up with the experts.
The BBQ, teas, scones and cakes on offer added to the festivities and the occasional heavy, but thankfully short, April showers failed to dampen the spirits of the club members and visitors.
The courts looked fantastic. They have recently been resurfaced with the help of a substantial grant from the Nottinghamshire County Council Olympic Legacy Fund which was established following the Olympics to promote sport in the county.
The club is happy to welcome new members – please visit the club’s new website for further details for full details of the membership rates, coaching programme and planned social events– www.eastbridgfordtennisclub.co.uk.
