Notts County teams are sponsored by Brenntag
The u16 team were down in Corby for the 12 Counties event in division 2B and played against Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Andy Higham was the match day captain for the first time and took a strong team down to start the journey to promotion for Nottinghamshire in the 2018/19 season. The boys team consisted of Gabriel Johnson, Phoenix Weir, Puneet Sunner and Tom Utton with Amelia Rajecki, Eva Shaw, Jess Spencer and Ellie Fitzsimmons playing for the girls team.
Nottinghamshire performed well throughout the day, showing a willingness to learn as they completed goal setting sheets before and after each match, and ended the day with an overall record of 21 wins and 3 losses.
At the number 1 position both Amelia and Gabriel picked up 3/3 wins and showed excellent composure both winning one of their matches in the third set tie break.
Phoenix and Eva, both playing up an age group on Sunday, showed brilliant maturity to come through their matches with Eva winnning 3/3 and Phoenix scoring 2/3 for the day after going down in a match tie break to an older player
Jess was close to a perfect record but missed out by 2 points losing one of her matches 10-8 in the match tie break, however had earlier won a match tie break versus Northamptonshire to secure a win. Puneet won all of his matches in straight sets, proving too powerful for his opponents.
Ellie and Tom were both competing in their first 12 Counties and showed excellent team spirit and values. Tom, after losing his first match, reflected on his gamestyle to bounce back to win 2/3 for the day. Ellie varied her game well on the way to completing 3/3 wins.
An enjoyable and successful day for Nottinghamshire, albeit it slightly on the cold side for parents supporting, which sets the county up to push on for promotion this year with maximum points gained. The U12s will be the next team to compete in the competition, good luck to them when they go down on the 18th November.
