This season Notts are playing in Division 2b with Essex, Hereford & Worcs, and Bedfordshire. The first round was against Hereford & Worcs. Anna and Amelia both had very easy wins, playing attacking controlled tennis to a high standard. Jasmine had a tight match winning the first set 5-4, then losing the second 0-4, but played a great match tie break to win 11-9. Iraina played a solid match, winning 4-1, 4-2. The boys had a tougher time with Jacob and William both losing with scores that did not reflect the tennis. Owen had a long match losing the first set 2-4, winning the second 4-0, going on to win the match tiebreak 10-2. Aidan played a very compact game winning 4-0, 4-0. These results gave Notts a win.
The second round was against Bedfordshire, again Anna and Amelia both had convincing wins, as did Jasmine. Iraina played well but lost with the second set 3-5. The Bedfordshire boys were strong, Jacob and William both had tough matches which they lost. Owen also lost fighting hard but went down 3-5, 2-4. Aidan had a tough match, winning the first set 5-3, losing the second 5-3 going on to win the match tiebreak 10-8. Notts achieved a 4-4 draw.
The last round was against Essex, they had a strong team. Anna and Amelia had tougher matches than the previous two, but still achieved wins, which the Essex team did not take well. They levelled the match beating Jasmine and Iraina, but our girls still put up a fight. The Essex boys were very strong with rating well above our boys, Jacob, Owen and Aidan all lost. William fought for every point, but having lost the first set, he won the second, and played great tennis with great concentration to win the match tiebreak 11-9. Notts did lose to Essex, but there was great team spirit throughout.
Well played to the team, and thanks to the parents for their support.
