Men’s Summer League
West Bridgford men travelled to Attenborough with only two regular first team players available, but just managed to scrape home to maintain their unbeaten run in division 2. Gerry Radford and Matt Whitehead were the top couple with 5 sets, and Josh Parmenter and Greg Hollin contributed a match winning 4.5 sets.
A strong Musters ‘A’ team comprehensively beat Magdala ‘C’ to maintain their unbeaten run, and move to the top of division 4A, just ahead of Caunton ‘A’. Callum Chivers and Richard Clay were the top couple with 6 sets for the loss of only 5 games. Mike Clayton and Ian Carter also contributed 6 sets. Sutton in Ashfield moved into third place following a close fought away win against Woodthorpe ‘B’. Gary and Chris Wood were the top couple with 5 sets.
The division 4B title decider between East Bridgford and Retford, was won by Retford in a close fought match, which put Retford level on points, but they miss out on promotion due to East Bridgford’s superior sets difference. Tom Hannah and John Gazeley the Retford first pair were the top couple with 6 sets.
Keyworth ‘A’ completed their fixtures in division 5A, with a good away win against Sutton in Ashfield, to move into second place behind Grantham ‘A’. Alan Lea and Walter Boersma were the top couple with 5.5 sets. With two matches remaining, Mansfield ‘A’ could still finish as champions, if they win both matches.
Burton Joyce ‘A’, continue their march to promotion in division 6, with a crushing home win against third placed Mansfield ‘C’, where they didn’t concede a set.
