Nottinghamshire Junior County Closed 2013

The 2013 Nottinghamshire Junior County Closed was held at The County Ground in The Park Monday 26th August to Saturday 31st August 2013.
Eleven year old Anna Buckley from East Bridgford won both the under 12 & under 14 girls singles titles at last week’s Nottinghamshire Junior County Closed tennis tournament, beating Jessie Beiley from West Bridgford 6-0 6-0 in the U12 final & Moira Johnson 6-2 6-2 in the U14 final.
James Defusto from West Bridgford regained his under 18 boys singles title from Christopher Wood, winning in straight sets 7-5 6-0. But he lost out in the U18 boys doubles with Johnny Burke to Christopher Wood & Donovan Cellupica-Towers in a 3rd set match deciding tie-break, 3-6 6-2 10-6.
Christopher & Donovan also had singles success in the U21 & U16 respectfully.
Harry Harrold-Vaux won the Boys U12 singles, beating William Caunt 6-3 6-1 in the final. He then joined with Daniel Blackburn to beat William & Rishi Kalia 6-2 6-2 in the Boys U14 Doubles final. Daniel Blackburn lost the U14 singles final to newcomer Liam Balfe 6-3 7-6, who trains at The Park TC.
Ellie Horton took the U21 Ladies title with a 6-4 6-2 win against Mary Joyner.
Rishi Kalia partnered Jessie Beiley to victory in the U18 Mixed Doubles against Katie Fuller & Tom Lockey 6-2 6-4
In the green ball under 10 event, Millie-Mae Matthews won the girls event with the loss of just one game from the round robin through to the final. Gabriel Johnson came through the boys event, beating Rhys Biro-Moore 6-0 6-1 in the final.
The under 8 Mini-Tennis Red event was played at Nottingham Tennis Centre on Thursday 29th August, with 18 players participating. Daniel Wright from David Lloyd West Bridgford won the event beating Mia Wainwright, Ishy Han and Johnny Lees in a 1st Place round robin box.
The under 9 Mini-Tennis Orange event was played at The Park TC on Friday 30th August, with Kade Straker-Meads beating Haydn Oakes in the boys final 7-2 4-7 7-5.   The Orange girls event was won by Emily Trease by winning all her matches in the round robin group.  Daisy Banks was the creditable runner-up    
In the Orange mixed doubles event played on finals day, Kade-Staker Meads and Daniel Wright won the title with Emily Trease and Daniel Connelly runners-up.
John Poxon, chairman of the Notts LTA League,  presented the prizes on behalf of Nottinghamshire LTA.
