This two day County Cup was played at Corby on the new outdoor courts with five counties competing.
Notts played Lincolnshire first with the format of three singles and one doubles, playing short sets with a sudden death deuce. Millie Mae had a easy win over Madison Cook, as did Jasmine over Paris Royal, but Ellie lost on a close match , not reflecting the score.
Our second round was against Warwickshire, Millie Mae had a marathon match against Mia Faulkner, winning the first set on a tiebreak 7-5, losing the second on tiebreak 10-12, but she fought hard to win the match tiebreak 8-6. This was definitely the match of the weekend lasting just over two hours! Jasmine lost in two sets as did Emily, to girls who hit a heavier ball with more consistency. Millie Mae and Ellie lost their doubles, but they did take them to a set tiebreak.
Sunday morning saw us against Leics first when Jasmine and Emily both lost in close matches that could have gone either way. Millie Mae had a good win and Millie Mae and Jasmine had a close doubles match but lost.
The last round was against Northamptonshire. Millie Mae and Jasmine both played well and deserved their wins. Ellie played a great match, but just could not keep up the consistency of her opponent.
Warwickshire were the outright winners, Notts I am pleased to say came second on a set countback. The girls were a credit to the County supporting each other with great team spirit. My thanks go to four fathers who supported all the team throughout the weekend.
