Date: Tues 07/08/2018
Result: Lost 0-10
Team: Nick Shelvey – Les Hurst
Rex Burrows – Bill Sissons
This match was played in extremely difficult conditions of over 30 degrees heat.
Notts. were beaten by a better team in a highly competitive match.
My thanks go to all of the “Men’s 70 squad” who all gave their uttermost efforts over the five matches .
Special mention should go to Bill Sissons who, returning from injury, put every ounce of energy and resolve into his game, and to Les Hurst who cheerfully threw himself into his matches, even volunteering to play singles!
As we were playing this season in the first division I anticipated a difficult run of matches and of course the re-emergence of singles at this level presented further pressure on our squad. However, we were beaten by better players in very sporting matches, we all enjoyed our tennis and may have even learnt from our experience!
