Team: Sophie Lager, Eve Crowther, Kaitlin Waddell, Polly Ofield
Playing in Division 2b, this was first time these girls have represented Nottinghamshire in the 12 Counties Competition.
The first round was against Leicestershire, who are a strong team.
Sophie played a very solid attacking game, winning 4-1, 4-2.
Eve played well, rather nervous, she stayed in the rallies, often getting to deuce, and went down to the sudden death scoring. She lost 1-4, 1-4.
Kaitlin had a tough match against a more consistent player and lost in straight sets.
Polly had a great first set, taking her opponent to a set tie-break, and then the second set slipped away, she lost 4-5, 0-4.
This gave Leicestershire a 3-1 win. The boys also lost 1-3.
The second round was against Hereford and Worcestershire, Sophie had a great match, it was so close, long competitive rallies with great use of the court. She won a tight first set 5-4, going on confidently to win the second 4-2.
Eve had another good match, with many games going to deuce, but went down 1-4, 0-4, a score not reflecting the tennis.
Kaitlin played a much better more consistent match she won the first set 0-4 lost the second 4-2. The match tie-break was close sadly she lost it 6-10.
Polly also had a much better match, with long rallies. She lost the first set 4-1, came back in the second playing very solid tennis to win 1-4, and in another tight tie-break lost 8-10.
This gave Hereford and Worcestershire a 3-1 win, but the Notts boys won 4-0, giving an overall 5-3 win.
The final round was against Bedfordshire, Sophie had a tight first set, winning 5-4, then solid second to win 4-1.
Eve, Kaitlin and Polly all played well, you could see them improving as the day went on, sadly they did all lose in straight sets.
The result was again 3-1 Beds. The boys ended with 2-2 result.
It was a great experience for the girls, I think they all enjoyed themselves, they played very well.
My thanks to the parents for their support.
