Team: Jasper Riley, Ben Phillips, Isaac Dunstan, Henna Quraishi

All the team were there for a warmup and to play some points before start of play which began at 10.30am.

There were 2 groups of 4 teams. Nottinghamshire with Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, and Northamptonshire In the Andy Murray Group.

The first match was against Herts who were the runners up on the day, which we lost 3-1

Henna who was struggling with a leg injury had a straight sets win.

Jasper and Isaac had close matches but were against some strong opposition and were just finding their feet as was Ben who lost in 3 sets and by 7-6 in the decider.

The second matches was against Cambridgeshire who were the winners on the day, which we lost 4-0

They were a very strong team who had 4 strong players.

Jasper played much stronger but lost in 2 sets with the other player using his hard hitting against him.

Ben was disappointed to lose and was slightly affected by the lost in the previous match were he was ahead and lost on sudden death.

Isaac and Henna lost in 2 straight sets with some good tennis played and long rallies but were slightly over powered by their opponents.

The 3rd round was against Northants which we won 3-1.

Jasper and Ben really started to find their feet and their confidence grew throughout the match with much more positive body language and movement. Both Boys won very comfortably with some great construction of the points.

Isaac also started to feel much more at home and played a very consistent game to win in 2 straight sets.

Henna was struggling with her movement and her serve due to her leg injury and really struggled to play the aggressive tennis that she likes and the other plyer was able to move her to expose this.

Following these results we finished 3rd in the group and were to play for places 5-8.

We were then up against Yorkshire which we draw 2-2, the sets were even but unfortunately we lost by 4 points.

Jasper struggled to find his rhythm in the first set but then after a chat at the change of ends, he went out and stormed the next 2 playing aggressive and accurate tennis giving his opponent no chance.
Ben was really in a confidence mood and play steady through his match, making few mistakes and not giving much in the away of chances to his opponent.

Isaac had a real battle and at 1 set all and 5-5 had a line call overruled. He ended up losing the match on the sudden death point at 6-6. Played some excellent tennis and some unreturnable serve on big points.

Henna lost the 1st set but went out in the 2nd and really fought against a good opponent who didn’t give much away. He lost the 2nd set 7-6.

The final match was against Hereford and Worcestershire which we won 3-1.

Jasper was unstoppable with a very comfortable  sets win playing his best tennis of the day.

Ben had a great comeback after losing the 1st set and came back and won the next 2. He changed his tactic and became more aggressive to keep his opponent away from the net. He won on the sudden death 6-6.

Isaac overcame his disappointment of the lost in the previous round to win in 2 straight sets with a very strong performance and played some great tennis.

Henna really gave it everything in this match playing much more aggressively with some fantastic shots but was just beaten in 3 very tight sets.

Overall the Team finished 7th and had lots of fun!

Thank you very much to the parents for scoring and their support throughout the day. A great learning experience.
