Team – Harry Harold-Vaux, Louis Kybird, Thomas Connolly, William Trease
Anna Buckley, Moira Johnson, Amelia Rajecki, Millie France
The first round was against Leicestershire, Harry had a long close match, but lost in two sets. Louis just had too many mistakes and went down to a steadier player. Thomas had a good win having been 3-4 down in the first set, he fought back to win the match in two sets. William played well but was against a steadier stronger boy, he also lost.
Anna and Moira both played very solid tennis to win their matches very easily, after a slow start Amelia also had a convincing win. Millie lost the first set but then came back to win the second set easily. She relaxed in the match tie-make and it slipped away from her. This bought the overall match result as 2-2.
The second round was against Hereford and Worcestershire, Harry again played well in a long match but lost in two sets as did Louis, Thomas produced another good win, but William also had a loss.
The girls again played well, Anna had a longer match but again came through with a win, Moira had an easy win, dominating the game with her strong serve, Amelia and Millie also both had wins, giving an overall result of 5-4.
The final round was against Norfolk, all four boys had convincing wins, as did the girls giving a great 8-0 match result.
There was a great team spirit throughout the day, it was very cold in our air hall, but the parents were great in supporting all players, layer up and finally in wrapped blankets provided!
