With the Notts team hoping to repeat some of the successes from last year, the team arrived full of confidence. We were drawn against Warwickshire on the first day and this was always going to be a tough match. Holly Spencer and Steph battled hard before losing to higher ranked opponents, whilst Holly Mellors narrowly missed out against the opposition number one. This left us 3-0 down, with Holly S and Steph trying to get a doubles win, but to be beaten by a strong pairing.
On day 2, we were first up against Lincolnshire. We knew that this was going to be the match where we can do well and that was to be the case with strong performances from Holly M and Steph giving us a 2-0 lead, with Etianna just missing out by losing in a 3rd set tiebreak. However, after an early wobble, it was Etianna and Steph who gave us the win by closing out the doubles to give us the win. We also played against Leicestershire, who were given the task of beating us to ensure they go through to the finals. With this in mind, our girls gave everything to try and spoil the party for them but were beaten by a tough side who showed they were the best throughout the weekend.
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable weekend for players, parents, and captain. My thanks go to the players for giving it all for their county and to the parents for bringing them down to play each day.
