The County Final of the prestigious Road to Wimbledon 14U Club Championship took place this sunny weekend on the Notts LTA County Ground courts.
12 boys and 6 girls qualified for the tournament as winners and runners-up of their Club qualifying stage for players rated up to 6.2. Clubs represented on the day were Caunton, Keyworth, Magdala, Nottingham Tennis Centre, West Bridgford and also The Long Eaton School
The prize for the eventual girl and boy winner was an invitation to attend the National Road to Wimbledon Championship on the Aorangi Park grass courts at Wimbledon SW19 from August 9 – 15.
After 3 rounds of matches, the delighted winners were:
Isaac Morris, aged 11 representing Magdala Tennis Club
Helena Constantinou, aged 13 representing Nottingham Tennis Centre (photo to follow)
Runners-up were: William Trease and Daisy Banks (aged just 10!) both from West Bridgford Tennis Club.
