Hugo Dunn’s time at Wimbledon has been his dream come true. He enjoyed every single second of his time there, from spending time at Aorangi in the Player’s Lounge, eating large bowlfuls or pasta in the restaurant using his player card, visiting the museum where he learnt he should be eating said pasta over chicken stir fries (noted!) on top of many other interesting facts, getting to play on one of his favourite surfaces where top players practice, meeting new faces and most of all, competing.
Hugo won 2 out of 3 matches in his round robin box over the first few days, which we were surprised to find meant he was through to the main draw. Here he won his first match before losing a match tiebreak missing out on a place in the last 8 on the 5th day. He far exceeded all our expectations and remained in the tournament for longer than was anticipated given he was playing against older boys. He played in beautiful sun, in wind, indoors whilst it rained and back on the grass again.
He is hugely grateful to have been given this amazing opportunity and experience.
