“Mapperley Park Tennis Club joined in with the LTAs Great British Weekend by opening its courts to everyone interested in picking up a racket and taking part in a fun day of games and coaching. Two sessions were provided, one for juniors and one for adults. The age range on the day spanned the generations with the youngest being 3 and a half and the oldest being 78 years young.
It was a great family day as the parents of the juniors stayed and delighted in watching their respective off spring scream with joy and excitement with the warming up 'dodge the tennis ball' game. It really was heart-warming to see so many youngsters having a brilliant time and being introduced to tennis in a fun and imaginative way. Well done to Simon, our coach, for such an enjoyable session.
The adults also benefited from Simon's welcoming and informative approach; this time with slightly fewer yelps of delight and instead a more controlled and determined concentration.
All in all a good day for complete beginners and also returners to the game”.
