TYRRELL’S MEDAL DOUBLE
Notts County tennis star and England Number 1 Racketlon player, Isabelle Tyrrell, won two medals in the recent World ITF Seniors Tennis Championships in San Diego, California.
Representing Great Britain in the over 40 age group, she secured a fourth place in the team event, with Great Britain only losing to France, the eventual winners who were led by former top 10 player Sandrine Testude.
Then in the Individual Championships, Isabelle, the Events and Marketing Co-ordinator at Dagfa School Nottingham, continued her fine form by reaching the World Singles Final. There she lost to World Number 2 Jurate Hardy (Australia) in straight sets in a hard fought match.
Isabelle, who trains at David Lloyd West Bridgford then added a bronze medal to her collection in the Doubles with Maria Bergenheim (Latvia). Isabelle said, ‘It was a fantastic two weeks of tennis and to achieve the results I did was especially pleasing as the standard was extremely high, including former Wimbledon players such as Jeff Tarrango, Jim Pugh, Rick Leach and Ros Fairbank.’
Next stop for Isabelle is the Czech Open Racketlon Championships in Prague in April.
