West Bridgford Tennis Club hosted the 3rd Annual Learning Disability Tournament on the weekend of 31st March/1st April.
The event which is supported by The Tennis Foundation, Special Olympics Great Britain and Nottinghamshire LTA, saw a record entry from across Great Britain come together to play in singles and doubles events.
Players who train at West Bridgford Tennis Club did exceptionally well in their respective divisions. Joseph Eccles won Men’s Singles Div 2 with Michael Clarke taking the bronze medal.Alex Eustace and Peter Norton won the silver & bronze medals in Div 3, and Aiden Leighton, Luke East and Matthew Chilvers, took silver, bronze and 4th place in Div 4. In Div 5 Scott Brown took gold with Steven Uttley won the bronze medal, William Haynes won gold in Div 6 and James Cregan in his first tournament won gold in Div 7 with Alex Hopkinson winning silver in Div 8. In the Ladies event, Katherine Ashcroft won silver in Ladies Div 2.
Similar success was gained in the doubles events with Joseph and Alex winning gold, Michael & Peter winning silver and Aiden & Luke taking 4th place in Div 2. Scott & Matthew won gold in Div 3 with Steven taking the silver medal and James the bronze. William and Alex won silver in Div 4 while Katherine won bronze in the Ladies doubles.
