Westcliff Lawn Tennis Club member Steve Wynn has been given the honour of carrying the Olympic Torch when it visits Southend on Friday July 6th.
This is in recognition of the work he does for Westcliff Lawn Tennis Club, Southend & District LTA and Essex Tennis. The actual recognition was for ‘Sport in the Community’.
Steve has been Club Captain at Westcliff Lawn for the last 23 years. He has been running the S&D LTA for the past 16 years and has been Essex LTA league secretary since 1999.
As you may be aware there are 8000 torchbearers each of which will carry the torch for a distance just under ¼ mile. Each torch bearer has the opportunity to purchase their torch after the Olympics.
We would like to congratulate Steve on this great honour and wish him well on the day.
