A contingent from Germany contributed to a great atmosphere throughout the tournament where 398 matches were played in six days.Multiple players won more than one event, in particular on the Girls side. Elizabeth Ashworth from Kent was the winner of the Girls Singes Under 18, Girls Doubles Under 18 with Essex’ Gemma Vango and the Mixed Doubles Under 18 with Ben Croston from Colchester.
As well as Elizabeth, Emily Davies from Ipswich was the winner of the Girls Singles 12 and Under, Girls Doubles 12 and Under with Hannah Vickers and the Mixed Doubles 12 and Under with Arthur Patten of Manningtree.
Other notable successes came for Ryan Peniston from Essex who won the Boys 14 Singles and Doubles and Jack Findel Hawkins from Devon who won both the Under 16 and Under 18 Singles events overcoming tough German opposition in both finals. Further Essex success came for Eva Dench in the Girls 16 & Under Singles and Tommy Smalley in the Boys 190 & Under Singles.
The next major events at the club are the Club Championship Finals on Sunday 30th August followed by the Colchester & District Finals Day on Saturday 5th September where local interest will be high.
