Team

  • Anthony Wright
  • Gene Swain
  • Tibet Hanedan
  • Imogen Brooker

This is the first year Essex have entered this event and the team where a little nervous but got off to a flying start against Nottinghamshire 3 to 1 winners. The next match against Northants was a little tense as our number one player Anthony Wright retired 1 set all and leading in the third set 3 to 2, the team stuck together and earned a very valuable 2 all draw. An unknown quantity in Hereford & Worcestershire but Essex pulled out a 3 to 1 win. Now local rivals Hertfordshire One, all games very close but good fight backs earned a 2 to 2 draw, this match was very quickly followed by Cambridge who had been unbeaten all day as predicted close and another 2 to 2 draw. Last match of the day against Hertfordshire two with all to play for especially Tibet Hanedan who was unbeaten all day, sadly  this match proved a step t far and Tibet lost in 3 very close sets Essex again 2 to 2 draw

The overall winners where Hertfordshire one Cambridgeshire came second and Essex finished a strong third bearing in mind they had drawn with the teams who finished First & Second, to many draws was to become our downfall.
