Essex 18U Girls travelled to Corby on Saturday 14th February to take part in the 12 Counties Championships – what a way to spend Valentines Day!
First up were Bedfordshire and the team all had comfortable wins to give Essex a 4-0 win – great start!
Next up was Hereford & Worcestershire – Erica had a long match at number 1 and eventually won 10-8 in the 3rd set after losing the first set 6-1! Caitlyn & Phoebe again had comfortable wins at 2 and 3 – only dropping one game between them. Charisma had a tougher match at number 4 but came through 4-0 5-4 – another 4-0 win for the girls.
Our last match was against Nottinghamshire and Erica had her best match of the day against their number 1, coming through 2-4 5-3 10-3 – a very good performance against a good player. Caitlyn had yet another comfortable win at number 2 and was very impressive in all her matches. Charisma had another close battle, but again came through 5-3 4-2. Phoebe didn’t get to play her last match as Essex were already 3-0 up and it was already 5pm!!
Huge thanks to the girls who all competed well and made the day a lot of fun – it was a great way to warm up for 18U County Cup in the next few weeks. Also big thanks to all parents/supporters who suffered the cold of the Corby ‘bubbles’.
A big well done to the 18U Boys who also won their division with some excellent performances
