Hylands is well known for its excellent junior programme and holds both Club Mark and Beacon Status accreditation representing a quality assurance benchmark and a commitment to an accessible and affordable programme with an element of free tennis.
Havering School Games Organiser, Sharon Phillips, said “I am extremely pleased that we have had seven local schools participating in today’s event, which will culminate with the Finals on 13th June. Lots of kids love playing tennis and the support of clubs like Hylands is key to deliver inter schools competition”
Lynn O’Brien, the Essex County LTA Executive Officer said “I am delighted to see so many kids involved at any standard. This shows that no matter how little tennis you have done, everyone can take part.”
Hylands Club Coach, Tina Waldon, said “We love children and they are at the heart of what we do as a club. We are able to welcome a high number of young players because we can rely on our in-house trained Tennis Leaders and without their support this high take up would not be possible. Tennis Leader, as a programme, is a very important factor distinguishing Hylands from other clubs.”
Giorgio Bugnatelli, Executive Administrator at Hylands said “This is a new event in Havering, which we are delighted to support because it gives children from local schools the opportunity of visiting tennis clubs they would not otherwise know about. In our view, this is fundamental because it allows both children and their parents to come into contact with the people working at the clubs and Hylands’ welcoming nature is legendary in Havering. At our club, children will experience full inclusion and the opportunity to follow a graduated programme which provides regular access to group coaching and competition and which has produced so many players in Essex.”
