With the golden summer for British tennis drawing to a close after Andy Murray’s memorable Wimbledon and Olympic victories and the US Open and Davis Cup by BNP Paribas semi-final quickly approaching we wanted to update you on the progress of the Davis Cup Legacy Programme.
Tennis for Kids
The success of Tennis for Kids has continued to shine over the busy summer period with a total of 13,261 youngsters between five and eight signing up for 1,419 courses.
The first set of results from the parent/participant survey and our inspiring army of coaches have delivered such fun and engaging courses that that early indications show a positive 10%* of kids have signed up for a club membership and 42%* another tennis course. 98%* of parents were very positive about the tennis course experience because of the coaches. Trophy Tour
The Davis Cup Trophy continues to be a busy piece of silverware and has now completed 102 tours which, when you consider the original target was between 30 and 50, is a magnificent achievement.
We are proud that more than 60,000 people have had the chance to see and have their pictures taken with the trophy and are looking forward to the 32 events still to come.
The 100th event was on 16 August at the Junior Nationals at West Hants Tennis Club in Bournemouth and to mark the occasion we took a short look back at some of the journey so far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwNOqt8xU6c
There continues to be a great response from the media with 451 pieces of coverage landing to date alongside a continued buzz on social media with 42,094 engagements on twitter and 111,804 video views on Facebook.
It is also appropriate for us to recognise and thank all those involved in making this year’s DC Legacy Programme such a great success.
