The Essex Finals of the HSBC Road to Wimbledon were held over three weekends at Redbridge. A total of 21 clubs entered. The competitors were all either winners or runners up in their Club under 14 years tournaments. There were 15 girls and 31 boys, this is a slight increase on last years numbers.
In the girls final Joanna Rimmington beat Nyah Kaunders in 2 straight sets,.both girls had comfortable wins in the semi finals The boys event was a much closer affair. It was won by Luke Pike who had a tough match against James Needs in the semi final. In the other half Elliot Griffin just eased through in 3 sets against Kieran Williams. These were followed by an excellent final in which Luke won in 2 sets.
Both Joanna and Luke will go to Wimbledon on the 11th August 2014 for the week to compete in the National finals against winners from other Counties.
