The Essex boys had a successful weekend. There were five counties in the Regional Event - Middlesex, Berkshire, Oxford and Channel Islands.
On Saturday morning we started with the Essex boys(Tibet Handean, Anthony Wright, Ralph Bartlett) played Berkshire first and after the singles were 2-1 up. Anthony and Tibet won their doubles, which meant a win 3-1 to Essex.
Saturday afternoon Essex (Singles-Tibet Handean, Anthony Wright, Kai Cowcher) played Middlesex and after the singles Essex were 3-0 down, three very tight matches which all consisted of some great tennis. Essex finished off the day in good sprits by Ralph and Kai winning the doubles against Middlesex.
Sunday morning they woke up full of energy and started with a 3-0 singles win over Channel Islands and won the doubles easily which gave Essex another victory.
The last match was against Oxford where Essex won 4-0 , showing a gutsy finish to the end of the competition.
Overall Essex finished in 2nd place, I would like to say how much I have enjoyed the weekend. The boys desire and team spirit was fantastic and the added support from parents made it a pleasure to be captain.
