The Essex 12 Counties team were convincing winners and are now back in the top division again. Thanks must go to all the players that took part.
A huge congratulations must go out to Yorkshire for winning the Division 1 title this year. Hertfordshire were extremely unfortunate that they lost the majority of their 12U girls team because of the weather, but Yorkshire were able to take advantage on the last day of play to pinch the title. On a plus side for Hertfordshire, one of their young men who played in all the age groups a few years ago, Ed Corrie, has just been awarded a place in the Davis Cup squad playing against Russia this week. The Corrie family have supported this event for many years with the 3 boys all playing at various times for Herts, but it is a fantastic reward for Ed, who has been doing so well in recent GB Pro Series events.
In Division 1, Norfolk came third and Cheshire 4th.
In Division 2A, Cambridge pretty much led from day one, and never looked back, although the placings for 2nd, 3rd and 4th were close right up to the end. In order they came Notts, Suffolk and Hereford and Worcs.
Division 2B was also a run-away success for Essex who won 6 of the 10 age groups and scored a massive 33½ out of 40 points. Northants managed to pip Leics into 3rd place and Beds finished in 4th.
As things stand at present, these are the Leagues for 2013/2014
Division 1 – Yorks, Cambs, Essex, Herts
Division 2A – Notts, Leics, Here & Worcs, Norfolk
Division 2B – Northants, Suffolk, Beds, Cheshire
